Truly one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in...and we have stayed in many all over the world. This was our anniversary trip and we were welcomed and looked after from start to finish. Booked a historic twin room which was enormous by Japanese standards and very comfortable. Nice touch was wine and an anniversary card in our room. Quality everything here, from great coffee, comfy beds, nice toiletries to great dining and drinking spaces. Immaculate and clean. Spent 5 nights in the hotel and loved it. Ate 4 out of 5 nights in the hotel, which says a lot for the quality of the food on offer. Had Tacos on Taco Tuesday and great happy hour cocktails. Had 3 nights eating in the Italian restaurant on site as it was that good too. Had great pizzas twice and the set menu for another night. Quality of food and wine superb but the staff, especially our lovely Lolita, were amazing. Every night Lolita welcomed us, remembered us and even knew our order (the terrific Limoncello that is made in house). I have written to the hotel to say thank you and to praise the wait staff as all were very friendly. Music in room a treat, as random vinyl selection made you listen to stuff you never would do. Art in hotel an added bonus. Loved Stumptown coffee as used to work in Portland, so was great to get their brews again. Amazing that the hotel had direct access to the train system, so we had no trouble getting our huge suitcases to and from the hotel. I missed the place before I even left and it was the best of 8 hotels we stayed in during our Japan trip. Now looking to stay at other Ace hotels worldwide. Just wish I could go back tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for making our anniversary so special. Was worth paying just a little extra to have such luxury, but it was still way more cost effective than many 5 star places we have stayed in and the staff were nicer. Well worth it.

We LOVED this hotel. The location was fabulous with a train station (and a cool little mall) just below the hotel. Lots of places to walk to including Nijo-jo Castle and Nishiki market. Easy to get elsewhere on the train. There is also a 7-11 across the street and a Stumptown coffee in the lobby. The hotel itself is modern and chic with several restaurants and hang out spaces. We loved the art exhibits in the lobby. The rooms were small, yet still felt spacious. I loved the bathroom so much I’m now trying to convince my husband to remodel ours at home to imitate Ace Hotel’s. The beds were very comfortable and I really appreciated having full control of the temp in our room. Cleanliness was outstanding too. Finally, the people at the front desk were so casually friendly and helpful. Not stuffy at all. They helped us with getting our clothes to and from a laundry service, organized sending our bags ahead of us to the next hotel, called a restaurant to modify a reservation for us, and more. In all, I want to live at the Ace Hotel for the rest of my life. I was super bummed to check out. I’ll be back for sure!

I could LIVE at The Ace Kyoto.... honestly.... There was nothing I wanted or needed that wasn't available. Great design, in fact awesome design, large rooms, goregous curated decor and material selections and finishes, a record player in each room, excellent location, delicious in-house restaurants, great cafe with Barista coffee to start your day off right and the roof top bar with plug in electric blankets, the variety of shops downstairs in the Zen garden and direct access to the train station.... I mean... what... how cool! The staff are super friendly and helpfull suggesting vegetarian and vegan cuisine... I could keep going on and on.... just hang out in the foyer with all the other cool cats and soak in the vibe. I'll be back!

We loved the Ace Hotel and would rate it as one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. The room was huge and comfortable with very tiny detail considered. The design aspects of the hotel were stunning. Kosa Restaurant where breakfast was served is a beautiful space looking out to a roof garden. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. There is a subway and small shopping centre under the hotel. Nishiki Market is nearby and we also walked to the river and the Imperial Palace. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning to stay at the Ace Hotel Kyoto!

Ace Kyoto is now my favourite hotel in the world. Designed by Kengo Kuma, its architecture is calming and thoughtful, with beautiful timber finishes and warm light. Our room was spacious, and even featured a turntable with a selection of vinyl. We didn't use the balcony in the depths of Kyoto winter, but it added a lovely natural green outlook. The midtown location is very walkable - and we appreciated direct access from the subway below. Staff happily share an abundance of food and experience tips, which made us quickly feel like locals.
